It should not come as a surprise to say that a cybersecurity professional are paid generously for the services that they provide.

Aside from investing a lot of money and time in learning the best practices and necessary knowledge from cybersecurity courses, these individuals pride themselves to be effective and efficient IT professionals.

From making sure that an individual’s information and data is well-protected and secured to making sure that a business or an institution is safe from cyberattacks and hackers, cybersecurity professionals protect people from further damages and exploitations.

In fact, data and researches show that companies and businesses can save up to millions of dollars by hiring a cybersecurity professional who can help protect their data and assets.

Leaving them with more effective business operations that are free from the threats of cyberattacks.

With that being said, it goes without saying that their salaries are high enough for a reason. However, the question of whether a cybersecurity pro can earn a million dollars within a year can be tricky to answer.

To help, here are few insights on how much professionals in the field are earning:

Cybersecurity Engineer

In the security industry, being a Cybersecurity Engineer prides itself as one of the highest-paid jobs within the industry.

For good reason, companies invest in hiring these individuals for their experience and skill set in providing secure network solutions, security engineer functions, and also a defense against advanced hacking and cyberattacks.

Cybersecurity engineers have an average annual salary of $120,000 to $200,000.

Application Security Engineer

Considered one of the most highest-paying jobs in cybersecurity, Application Security Engineers are tasked to make sure that all software installed on all devices and computers in an industry is secure and safe for operations and other functions.

Application Security Engineers and paid with an average of $120,000 to $180,000 annually.

Information Security Manager

Considered as the top and highest-paid cybersecurity job, the professional in this career is the one who makes sure that security disasters are avoided. The Information Security Manager identifies and prevents information systems to become highly vulnerable to attacks and hackers.

As the highest paying job in the cybersecurity industry, Information Security Managers earn an average of $125,000 to $215,000 annually.

With all these highest paying cybersecurity careers in consideration, it might be impossible for a professional in the field to be earning a million dollars in a year.

However, in some cases and opportunities, a cybersecurity pro might just be among the very few exemptions.

Some of the world’s biggest companies are aware that a successful cyberattack against their systems and networks can cost them millions.

With that, they do and take every measure and step in order to prevent this. One of those measures is when they hire someone to try and hack their security systems.

Basically, these huge companies pay a huge amount of money to hire “good hackers” to have them search for a loophole or a vulnerability in their networks, software, and systems.

In turn, they gather the information gathered by the “good hacker” and turn it over to the companies’ security experts to further improve their security, making their whole system more secure than ever.

For instance, the gargantuan tech company Apple once offered $1 million dollars to those who can hack their iOs system. Another company named Zerodium also offered $2 million dollars to those who can pull off a successful hack.

With all those things being said, a cybersecurity professional can still fairly earn a huge amount of money from their already high-paying salaries.
