Surprisingly, more and more people are believing this, with the numbers expected to rise ten-folds if this rampant misinformation isn’t extinguished fully.
According to reports, conspiracists think that the COVID-19 pandemic is just a coverup for the health hazards that 5G allegedly brings.
Specifically speaking, these people think that 5G technology suppresses and weakens the immune system and leads to various respiratory diseases similar to what COVID-19 patients are experiencing now.
What Conspiracists Have to Say
More surprisingly, even celebrities and influential people are convinced that this is the case. Take for example Woody Harrelson, an American actor, who shared an Instagram post that links the pandemic to 5G.
There’s also TV celebrity, Jason Gardiner, saying that the World Health Organization warned the world about the serious health effects that the mobile network has.
People were quick to cash in on these statements especially that these are influential people with a huge fan base.
As a result, a 5G network mast was reportedly burned down in the UK, amid fears that it’s one of the causes and sources of the respiratory illness that thousands of British citizens currently have.
With this, one can see how ignorance and mass hysteria has led to the further degrading of society, especially that we’re in a time when we need mobile connectivity and online communication as much as possible.
If this issue continues, then for sure, this can undermine the global effort to stop the spread of the virus through proper information.
The telecommunications and mobile network sector also needs to continue functioning to help the economy cope with the financial disaster that the outbreak has.

5G is the latest advancement in mobile network technology. It was launched in 2019 with the goal of improving mobile and telecommunications connectivity with its faster speeds.
This is made possible thanks to its higher wave frequency, which conspiracists think is putting our lives at risk, when in fact, there’s no scientific or factual basis on this.
Specifically speaking, these conspiracists believe that 5G emits too much radiation, which the body can’t handle, and can lead to the deterioration of the immune system, and can further exacerbate flu illnesses.

The UK government, as well as individual scientific organizations in the country and different parts of the globe, are quick to denounce this hype as an ignorant and vulgar display of misinformation.
It shows how people can easily believe anything they want to, even if these aren’t grounded on factual basis.
Not only does this create unnecessary fear in the global population, but this can also undermine the progress and measures done by authorities and citizens worldwide to cope with the crisis that COVID-19 is currently inflicting to everyone.

It might be a disastrous figure, but all we can do is be hopeful and look at the bright side, knowing that 260,000 of these cases have already fully recovered.
