From working to communicating, and automating things, it’s hard to imagine a world where we could separate human interaction and behavior from it, as it is evident how IT has massively impacted society and culture.
In fact, as time progresses, the more we see ourselves getting more connected into one global network. Imagining a world without the benefits and advantages offered by information technology might paint a bleak future. Here’s why:
Lesser Productivity and Accessibility
One of the biggest contributions of technology is its ability to speed up human productivity. Acting as a complement to humans, combining both the skills of the user and the computer has long been proven to significantly increase the speed of finishing a job.
For instance, without the hastened process of computing, humans are most likely to spend hours or even days completing a computing job as opposed to having the help of technology.
Aside from that, the convenience of having these portable electronics means that it is easier for people to access their network anywhere around the globe. This way, individuals are able to start or even continue their work even outside their physical offices.
Combining both speed and accessibility, it’s hard to imagine proper efficiency and effectiveness without information technology.
Processes Left Unautomated
Almost all industries have benefited from what information technology could offer, and one of which is automated processes. With that, a world without it would mean jobs and processes are to be done manually, which means companies and industries are forced to employ more workers to do a monotonous workload.
Moreover, this would mean that companies would carry more financial burden in the long run; thus, drastically lessening their gain in terms of finances. With that, it is easy to realize that it would be challenging for any business or infrastructure to operate without the help of information technology.
If it weren’t for modern computers, the internet, networks, and databases, we would be left with typewriters to do the job of record-keeping and accounting.
Difficulty in Communication
In human interaction, communicating with others is as necessary as breathing. If there’s something that technology has massively contributed, it would be its ability to connect one or two people closer than they physically are.
With the use of devices, gadgets, and the internet, two people on opposite sides of the globe can easily talk to each other without a problem. However, if it weren’t for this, people would probably spend weeks before receiving a response from their sent letters.
In businesses, the IT sector has successfully connected organizations to each other, making processes and communications better; however, without this, the exchange of information and data with people from different locations would be such a difficult task.
Chatrooms, videoconferences, and e-mails make our lives so much better, and imagining a world without it would immensely affect our behavior, making us more distant from each other.
Any invention and development has its advantages and disadvantages. With that, it still depends on the person or people who utilize it according to their needs and desires.
However, it is still undeniable that the things that information technology has offered obviously have made human lives better and efficient whether individually or collectively.
