Amidst the current pandemic today, the coronavirus or known as COVID-19, organizations, facilities, and corporations have no choice but to cease operations until further changes.

But most companies or organizations are continuing operations online, which is a good thing because employees are still able to work at home, the only problem is that there are cybercriminals who are capitalizing on the crisis, which is still affecting most running businesses and companies today.

That’s why today, we curated a list of cybersecurity threats that most companies are facing today, amidst the COVID-19 or coronavirus pandemic.

The Influx of Cyber Criminals.

The current pandemic has taken its effect in almost all companies worldwide today. This is why these affected companies are downsizing their total workforce to cope up with the current pandemic.

This didn’t only affect the economic growth of these businesses, but it also changed the livelihood of the workers. But there are still companies who continued to operate up until now, allowing their workers to work at home or work remotely. These companies, who are always up until today, are one of the targets of cybercriminals.

The increasing number of cybercriminals hugely indicates the lack of active cybersecurity measures conducted today. The problem is, we’re not entirely ready for this type of pandemic, which is why cybersecurity organizations aren’t strong enough to handle or detect cyber attacks online because they are still coping up with the COVID-19 crisis.

The Risk of Cyber Espionage

Despite the efforts of most companies to devise a cyber espionage defense system way back before the COVID-19 pandemic, there’s still no assurance of detecting potential infiltrations today due to the current crisis.

If there’s a way to detect cyber attacks early, that is by providing security strengthening protocols and by making sure to prepare cybersecurity measures in times like these.

Companies and organizations today must prioritize cybersecurity measures despite the global pandemic. We can never be sure when these cybercriminals will cease their pesky operations.

We should always put in mind that they will do what they can to attack and to infiltrate our private information, so we can still decide on a better defensive system against cyber-attacks.

Post Coronavirus or COVID-19 Cybersecurity Status

Because most companies are downsizing their workforce to face the global pandemic, it could also mean that these companies are ceasing cybersecurity measures as well.

This short-term plan is a wrong move, especially in the long run, because cybercriminals will take this as an opportunity to attack.

What’s the best move to avoid these threats?

We can never let our guard down, even in times like this. That’s why companies nowadays are encouraged and advised to increase cybersecurity measures as much as possible, especially if they’re imposing remote-work online for their employees.

Prioritizing cybersecurity during and after the COVID-19 pandemic is the best strategic plan that all organizations and companies should go for.
